The week or days before
Stop buying cartons of cigarettes and start buying packs.
Try to reduce the amount of cigarettes you smoke daily
Tell your loved ones and friends the date you are quitting
Start paying attention to the places and reasons that make you want to smoke - Triggers
Tell any friends and family that smoke that you may not be able to see them for a few days
The day before
launder all clothes so they will smell clean
Clean out and vacuum your car, and car ashtray, or treat you self have it professionally detailed
Pick up gum or toothpicks
The day of quitting
Throw away all lighters and matches
Throw away all ash trays
Smoke your last cigarette and bring them to the clinic to throw away
Bring a bottle of water with you to the clinic
